The American International Group, the battered insurance giant that is now effectively majority-owned by the federal government, is in talks to receive more government aid as it prepares to record another giant loss, a person briefed on the talks told DealBook.
A.I.G. could take as much as another multi-billion dollar hit when it reports earnings during the next week. It expects to disclose losses across a wide variety of holdings, from commercial real estate to credit default swaps, the private contracts that helped lead it to the brink last fall. A loss of that magnitude could lead to another sweep of credit rating downgrades, prompting a fresh round of capital demands that could again pose a serious risk to the firm and its trading partners, this person said

Nicky Hilton was assulted infront of and IHOP! We have Video! DAMN FREE PANCAKES!

According the E! news, the 25-year-old Hilton was at the front door of the pancake kingpin around 4:50 a.m. when she was shoved in the back."One of our deputies was in the IHOP...and heard a commotion," Whitmore says. "He went outside to investigate and discovered that Ms. Nicky Hilton was pushed from behind."
Hilton was more insulted than injured and—we're not making this up—placed the perp under citizen's arrest, which Whitmore says was unncessary, since a deputy was already present. Michael Broadhurst, 50, was taken to the West Hollywood station, booked on a misdemeanor battery charge and released later that afternoon. He is due in court April 21.

Gary Locke is the New Choice for Secretary of Commerce.
President Obama has settled on former Gov. Gary Locke of Washington state as his top choice for commerce secretary as he tries for a third time to fill a cabinet position that has bedeviled his administration, a White House official said Monday.
The official described Mr. Locke as the “likely” nominee, a formulation the Obama team has used in the past for a candidate on the verge of being nominated pending final vetting checks.
According to the New york Times, Mr. Locke would be the third choice for the Commerce Department after Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico dropped out because of a federal investigation into state contracting and Senator Judd Gregg, a Republican from New Hampshire, withdrew his nomination citing philosophical differences with the president.

Microsoft Elevates America?
Accordinf to Cnet, Microsoft is announcing on Sunday a job training effort aimed at giving technical skills to as many as 2 million Americans over the next three years.
The most significant part of the program, in which Microsoft is offering free certification and other technical training, is being done in a phased approach, starting with Washington state. The second component of "Elevate America," available online immediately, is a Web site designed to help people with the basics such as creating a resume and send e-mail.
Microsoft's move comes as the United States has shed millions of jobs, a small number of which came from Microsoft itself as the company announced its first companywide layoffs last month.
As part of the Elevate America program, Microsoft is working with state and local governments and hopes to offer 1 million vouchers for e-learning and certification classes.
"At the federal, state and local level, leaders are working together to help start the engine of economic growth. The private sector provides much of the spark needed to jump-start that engine," Washington Gov. Chris Gregoire said in a statement. "Washington state is pleased to be the first state to partner with Microsoft to provide Elevate America to our residents."

Central Maine Power Latest Report: 129,500 Without Power
According to Cnn, In checking in with the Central Power Website, it is reported that the company is working hard to get service back to people. Unfortunately homes without power now numbering 129,150.John Carroll, a Central Maine Power spokesperson, indicated that the company is addressing the problem in three steps.
They are making sure that there is no danger at the damaged sites. The next thing that they do is to assess the damage to their equipment so it can be repaired and will remain running. The last thing that they do is get the service back to the consumer.
Something that I did not know was that people who have their own generators must make sure that they are properly installed or they could actually feed back into the major company system and break it down.
